What is Truth?

This blog is dedicated to upholding the truth of God’s Word and standing firm in sound doctrine (Titus 1:9, 2 Timothy 1:13). When Pilate asked Jesus, “What is truth?” in John 18:38, he was unknowingly standing before the very embodiment of knowledge and truth, Jesus Christ. As Jesus declared, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life” (John 14:6), He prayed to the Father, “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth” (John 17:17) Psalm 119:160.

This profound statement reminds us that truth is not just an idea; it is found in the person of Jesus Christ and revealed through the Scriptures. To explore this concept further and see my thoughts on how we can embrace and share this truth in our lives, check out my blog post here.

In the Christian faith, we believe that the Bible is our ultimate authority in matters of faith and life. Without the Scriptures, we would have no true knowledge of how to live according to God’s design. Yet, God, in His grace, has provided everything we need through His Word, as stated in 2 Peter 1:3: “Seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the full knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” This verse highlights that God’s Word is sufficient for guiding us in all aspects of our lives.

In a world filled with differing interpretations and beliefs, the Scriptures serve as our unshakable foundation for life, offering clear guidance and unwavering truth. As believers, we are called to engage with Scripture regularly, understanding that it reveals not only our need for salvation but also the incredible grace extended to us through Jesus Christ.

The Core of Our Faith: Understanding the Gospel

At the heart of this truth is the gospel, the good news that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners (1 Timothy 1:15). This message reveals our separation from God due to sin (Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1-10), but through Christ’s perfect life, sacrificial death, and victorious resurrection, we are offered reconciliation with God (2 Corinthians 5:18-19). Without Christ, we remain lost (John 8:12), but in Him, we are redeemed, forgiven, and given eternal life (Colossians 1:13-14, John 3:36).

Join me on this journey as we explore the richness of the gospel, address the challenges of living faithfully to God’s Word (Philippians 1:27), and encourage one another to contend for the faith with grace and truth (1 Thessalonians 5:11). Together, let us grow in the knowledge of Christ (2 Peter 3:18, Ephesians 1:17-18) and glorify God in all that we do (1 Corinthians 10:31).
